ADHD and Elimination Diets

Occasionally, the kiddies will feast on candies and sweets...like today when we were literally at a giant candy store.

While they do not have ADHD, I usually do know the result of such sugar overload...they will be bouncing off the wall, have more difficulty listening and will need time to wind down before bedtime.  We then will have to encourage water, lots of it and then "detox" away from sugar and artificial colors and ingredients for the next few days.

It is therefore no surprise to me when I came across the article, "Study shows the Elimination Diets Help Those with AHDH."

I am just glad that the medical environment is becoming more open to the possibility of the impact diets have on children.  When I was working more directly with children in the past, numerous parents had brought up the issue of food sensitives and the negative behavioral impacts.  Many felt unsupported by their pediatricians and the medical professionals.

Here is an additional article on Elimination diets for those who might be interested.

Summer is the time for Fun & Merriment.
Sometimes, we just have to remember, we are what we eat.
