The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Orchestra to its instruments

Music to its notes

Painting to its strokes

Mosaic to its tiles

Open source programming to its codes (Nerdy Hubby taught me well)

The greatness of humanity is demonstrated not by its individual achievements, but the progress of a generation. (my personal interpretation)

A newer TED.com video:
Aaron Koblin: Artfully visualizing our humanity

Its main premise is on data and data collection usage in the 21st Century. At first glance, the topic seems contradictory.  How can data be an expression of humanity?  As the talk continues, it further expands on the concept of "Interface." That's where humanity comes in.

19th Century culture was defined by the Novel,
20th Century culture by cinema,
The culture of the 21st Century will be defined by the Interface

It's really about the process of collaboration. How individual uniqueness can come together and make an amazing whole.

What is amazing to me is how Aaron Koblin put data through the collaborative process and create an artistic expression. He turns what is static into a creative format and makes data comes alive.  You will have to watch the video to witness this.

What Can You Participate In Today To Create A Greater Whole?
