Speech Contest 2011
Once a year, our school host a speech contest for students 3rd - 6th grades. This year's theme is "A Positive Attitude is a Powerful Force."
My older one jumped at the chance and signed up for it.
Funny thing is that public speaking makes him nervous, a bit anxious and create a lot of self-doubt. Why he continues to do this, I don't know.
Maybe it's because that he is actually very very good at it. He is an excellent speaker once he gets over his nerve. He has very good content when he is able to focus and not be distracted by every item he finds on google or youtube.
Today is the first round and if he gets selected, Thursday evening will be the final round with judges coming in from the community. Regardless of today's outcome, he is a winner in our eyes.
So this is his abbreviate outline to his more detailed speech :
A Positive Attitude is a Powerful Force
Attitude is a little thing that makes a Big Difference
Did you know that 3 little words can determine the path to success or failure
"Yes, I can" will lead to success that can change the world
"No, I can't" will most likely lead to failure
A Positive Attitude will
Inspire Motivation to be optimistic in the face of obstacles
- The Spanish Explorers found the New World
Create Determination even when you feel like giving up
- NASA-Apollo Space Program putted the 1st man on the moon
Generate success that turn a dream into reality
- Walt Disney turned a dream into success
Because of those in the past who had said "Yes, I can,"
We have A Nation
We put Man on the Moon
We have the Happiest Place on Earth (just 2 hours away)
You too can Change the World
with 3 little words and a positive attitude.
